About the Mural:

“We painted this mural as part of the project ‘KunstRausch – Urban Art in Wittenberge.’ The theme, ‘Life by the River,’ was chosen by the local community. For us, life means movement and change. We flow with the current — sometimes drifting, sometimes swimming purposefully toward a goal. Embracing new things is part of that journey. For us, the theme evolved into ‘Life in the Flow.’” – Various & Gould

About the ‘Interval’ Series:

The process of collage-making inevitably produces scraps of paper, too beautiful to discard. At some point, Various & Gould began to embrace these elements, placing them at the heart of new compositions. In this series, strips of color—shaped by chance and dotted with halftone patterns that spill beyond the cut edges—become flowing banners or fragments of a dissolving rainbow.

Depending on the artistic medium, the materiality of these color strips changes: in installations, they are crafted from curved metal; in interior works, from undulating acoustic felt; in collages, from folded paper; and in murals, their three-dimensional appearance is achieved through painterly techniques.

These floating color strips stretch horizontally or diagonally, moving rhythmically across the surface, layering in front of and behind one another. Interspersed are motifs of teardrops or fragmented facial features, which, in contrast, follow the pull of gravity, traversing the composition vertically.
